Purpose of a mission statement To outline a common set of goals and beliefs Paints the “big picture” of why the organization exists Gives employees and customers a sense that there are clear guiding principles

American Society for Training and Development mission statement “We provide leadership to individuals, organizations, and society to achieve work-related competence, performance, and fulfillment.”
