One door for all HIT/HIE needs… Arizona Health-e Connection The Network (Statewide HIE) The REC (EHR Adoption Support) Other AzHeC Programs

What is The Network? The Network is the statewide HIE in Arizona  The Network provides a secure system that allows: patient health records to be accessed electronically by health care providers at health care facilities and health plans throughout AZ ensuring protection of personal health information and privacy  Standard data set currently exchanged and available: ADT transactions (problem lists, allergies, procedures, insurance, etc.) Medications Lab results Transcribed reports Radiology reports

Available Services Patient health information can be accessed through the following methods:  Bidirectional Exchange 2-way pipeline Sending information on patients inbound (from participant to HIE) Retrieving information on patients outbound (from HIE to participant) from exchange Push/pull or query/response functionality  Provider Portal/Payor Portal View only access to patient information from available sources Download capabilities for user selected data Single sign-on integration with EHRs

Available Services (cont.) NEW ways to access and communicate patient information include:  Direct Secure Secure for clinical information delivery DirectTrust certified and HIPAA compliant Supports Meaningful Use Stage 2  Alerts & Notifications Delivering alerts based on admissions/discharges/transfers (ADTs) as well as test results and reports  Public Health Reporting Connection to ADHS that will include immunization registry, electronic lab reporting, syndromic surveillance and disease registries Supports Meaningful Use Stage 2  eHealth Exchange Connecting to eHealth Exchange (national network) to support exchange with IHS, VA, SSA, other HIEs, etc. Supports Meaningful Use Stage 2

Statewide HIE Benefits & Value Innovative future functionality Current “Permitted Use” definition – updates to definition underway – Permitted Use includes treatment, care coordination, case or care management, transition of care planning, or other purposes approved by The Network’s Board – New options for Permitted Use could include the following: Support for HEDIS reporting Prior authorization – medical history and determination Utilization review Provider performance evaluation and other performance reporting Outcomes evaluations Ambulatory medical record review (AMRR) Continuity of care and eligibility Coordination of benefits Fraud, waste and abuse Population health Other options for adding future functionality under consideration – Includes personal health record, quality reporting and analytics, referral management, and more... 8
