Major Initiatives To improve access to healthy food & beverage choices in campus venues, addressing availability & education for target sites & populations. 1) Cal Dining: a leader in college food service for healthy choices. Nutrition principles include: –All foods, spreads and oils are free of trans fats. –Fruits and vegetables at all meals. –Certified organic salad bars available in the Residence Halls. –Produce stand on campus 2x/week where students can use meal points for purchases. –Nutritional analysis of meals available on website.

Major Initiatives ) Campus snack vending carry 40% healthier product meeting State nutrition standards for snacks; point-of- purchase educational signs on all vending machines. 3) Athletic concession contract requests include recommendations for healthy food & beverage options. 4) Campus catering contracts to include recommendation for healthy options; UCB Guide for Healthy Food & Beverage Choices at Meetings & Events (available in May).

Conclusion By establishing policies and priorities to optimize the campus nutrition & physical activity environment, UC Berkeley can make an important contribution to the health and well-being of all members of the campus community and beyond.
