Problem: Odors 2 types of odors: temporary and ongoing Temporary odors are most often caused by people and trash receptacles Ongoing odors are most often caused by urine, especially saturated in tile grout
Solution: Temporary Odors Regularly spraying the restroom and trash receptacles with a deodorizer Disinfecting inside of trash can while changing liner Checking for leaks or missed trash in the bottom of the trash receptacle
Problem: Urine Odors Urine odor is usually caused by bacteria that use urine as a food source Both the urine and the bacteria need to be eliminated in order to fully destroy the odor
Solution Disinfectant cleaner Disinfectants kill the bacteria that are causing the odors Enzyme cleaner Contains bacteria that release enzymes that consume the urine, or the source of the odor
Disinfectant Cleaner Dilute disinfectant cleaner to proper dilution and clean floor around toilets/urinals and the outsides of toilets/urinals Leave surface visibly wet and allow to air dry
Enzyme Cleaner Dilute enzyme cleaner to proper dilution and apply to area around toilets/urinals/sinks
Problem: Dirty stained grout Grout is porous and easily entraps dirt, stains, and bacteria Grout can appear dirty and cause malodors
Solution First: deep clean to remove embedded dirt and bacteria Second: remove stains and brighten grout
Step 1: Deep Clean Apply an alkaline cleaner to the floor with a mop and let sit for 5-10 minutes Scrub floor with a an automatic scrubber or scrub brush Vacuum spent solution or pick up with mop and water
Step 2: Remove Stains & Brighten Apply peroxide cleaner to the floor with a mop & let sit for 5-10 minutes Scrub floor with an automatic scrubber or scrub brush Vacuum spent solution or pick up with mop and water
Step 3 (optional): Seal Grout Apply a grout seal to the floor, spreading with a squeegee. Make sure to cover the entire floor evenly.
Problem: Hard Water Scale Buildup Hard water residue can leave traces around sinks, floors, and toilets.
Solution Acid cleaner
Step 1 Apply acid cleaner with a foaming trigger sprayer to floor, walls, toilets, urinals, counters, and anywhere else hard water buildup is visible Start at the bottom and work upwards
Step 2 Scrub fixtures, including showerheads, drains, soap trays, sinks, faucets, with a brush Rinse all surfaces thoroughly with water
