1 How to Clean Dog Runs

2 Dirty Cage Take cage apart

3 If towels/toys clean put on top of cage otherwise put in middle aisle
Cot is leaned up against door so not to get mixed up with other cages Pick up poop with pooper scooper

4 Use broom and dustpan to sweep up debris in run Do NOT allow debris to go in the drain

5 Unhook water bucket Dump water in drain Put bucket in middle aisle
Dump uneaten food in garbage and leave in middle aisle to be brought to kitchen

6 Cage is taken apart Next steps: Rinse Scrub Dry

7 Hose person rinses runs
First rinse should be quick unless there is stuck on poop Quick rinse of walls and floor to rinse off urine and fur

8 For stuck on poop go into the cage and use a strong close stream of the hose to flush all fecal matter into the drain

9 Scrub Runs – students will be assigned to scrub runs
Dump scrub brush in bucket Start with walls just like in a cage Start at top Use overlapping strokes until you reach the bottom Dip scrub brush in bucket for each section

10 Scrub floors Scrub floor of run after walls
Start at back corner scrubbing toward the drain Use overlapping strokes until you have covered the entire floor You should see the suds

11 Scrubbing Cots and Doors
Students will be assigned to scrub cots and doors Start at top using overlapping strokes Make sure to do front and backs of cots and doors Dump scrub bush in bucket several times as cleaning Keep cots with cages

12 Final Rinse – Hose person
Rinse is a little longer then first rinse Start at top of walls and work your way down Rinse floors last There should be no trace of suds when finished

13 Squeegee Start at back corner bringing excess water to drain
Use overlapping strokes until entire cage has been completed

14 Towel Dry Towel dry Floor and then cot Place cot back in run

15 Set Cage Back up Use any blankets or toys that are on top of the cage that are still in good condition Otherwise use new blankets from laundry room Blanket should be folded neatly on cot not touching floor Pay attention to type of blanket needed for that dog (chewers)

16 Give Water Back Refill water buckets ¾ full
Flat end of bucket goes against door Small buckets to small dogs Large buckets to large dogs

17 Let Dogs Back in Check that all cage doors are shut securely
Open doggie doors so that dog can come back in We need to work quickly, it will get cold and dogs will not want to be outside
