Executive VP Role of EVP – T.E.M.P. 1.Lead Technical Symposium programs and professional technical activities 2.Work closely with the President to execute plans and activities. 3.Support membership drive through the technical programs 4.Promote CIE/USA-DFW and increase the organization’s recognition. 5.Act as a backup for the President.

EVP Goals – S.E.I.D. A.Strengthen CIE’s collaboration with external entities like IEEE, university alumni, corporate diversity organizations and other technical & business communities. B.Expand CIE’s technical network with outstanding professionals, both domestic and international, to build strong technical programs. C.Provide opportunity to identify future CIE leaders. D.Develop ‘focused’ & ‘inclusive’ technical programs for professionals.

EVP Execution Plan A.Strengthen CIE’s collaboration with external entities like IEEE, university alumni, corporate diversity organizations and other technical & business communities. Communicated with Zheda University Alumni ( 中国浙江 大学校友会 ) and received support to jointly host 2015 Spring Technical Symposium in March Target to pull in technical representatives also from CIE’s current/potential sponsors, such as Fujitsu. To collaborate with other University Alumni to host 2015 Fall Technical Symposium in August Targeted organizations include 中国交通大学校友会, 中国清華大 学校友会, 台灣大学校友会。

EVP Execution Plan (cont’d) B.Expand CIE’s technical network with outstanding professionals, both domestic and international, to build strong technical programs. Direct Route: Establish speaker database from symposium as well as other technical programs. Maintain contact with these speakers and inform them about CIE’s technical programs, concept similar to eNewsletter to our sponsors. Indirect Route: Leverage speaker database to recruit committee members for technical programs. Thru CIE members, advisor, board members’ help to reach out other networks.

EVP Execution Plan (cont’d) C.Provide opportunity to identify future CIE leaders. Let CIE volunteers and members to drive the technical programs, being a project manager (PM). Key focus includes execution, planning, people interaction, risk management, writing ( /reports/promotion) and oral presentation/speech. Encourage volunteers/members in PM role to participate internal and/or external leadership development trainings. Rotate volunteers/members in PM role to other projects, technical or non-technical, within CIE to accumulate experience and exposure.

Set a clear and focused theme or topics for each technical program/symposium; too broad may impede audience participation while too narrow may limit available speakers we can invite. The theme or topics of each technical program needs to align with the industry trends. Build talent-driven technical committee, not limited to folks with Chinese-heritage. Promote technical programs to organizations/communities in all diversities.

Roles Organize CIE Convention Task Force. Manage the Plan and Execution for the Convention. Represent CIE Annual Convention in Public Events. Showcase CIE programs to the leaders of the community and major corporations at the Convention. Help execute fund raising plans. Provide opportunity to identify future CIE leaders Convention Chair

Build the Convention Task Force according to the functions. Set the Theme, Keynote Speaker Invitation, and Fund Raising Plan for the Convention. Coordinate with all subgroups in CIE for Seminars and Presentations in Convention. Create a great place for volunteers to play different roles, show their talents, and have fun together.
