Praying for the nations.

 Egypt is Africa’s third most populous nation after Nigeria and Ethiopia.  About half of the population live in the cities with the remainder clustered around the river Nile.  Egypt has a significant influence culturally, politically and militarily in the Middle East, North Africa and on the whole Muslim world.

 90% Islamic – mainly Sunni  9% Coptic Christian  1% Christian

 1 February 2011, Mubarak resigned and fled Cairo.  Mohamed Morsi was elected president on 24 June The new government was dominated by the Muslim Brotherhood.  On 3 July 2013, the military removed Morsi from power in a coup d'état and installed an interim government.

 Pray that the political turmoil in Egypt will not spiral into a bloody civil war.  Pray for restraint on all especially for hardline Muslims who are enraged at the removal of the Muslim Brotherhood from power.  Pray for Christians who are an easy target for angry Muslim groups.  Pray for the growth of the evangelical church in Egypt and that Egyptian evangelicals will be emboldened to share their faith.  Pray for the Reformed community in Egypt it is not only the largest Bible-believing community in the entire Mediterranean region, but also plays an active role in evangelism, church planting and teaching throughout the Arabic speaking world. He will send Egypt a Saviour and a Mighty One and He will deliver them. Then the Lord will be known to Egypt and the Egyptians will know the LORD in that day. (Isaiah 19:20)
