GUIDELINES FOR THE PACKAGING AND TRANSPORTATION OF INSERTS & SUPPLEMENTS The printer must ensure that all inserts are free from set-off and that the ink is dry. Inserts must be kept as flat as possible at all times with tight folds and free from rolled edges, wrinkles or any other distortions. To avoid any unnecessary handling and to prevent damage to inserts, the following IFRA recommendations should be adhered to: STACKING HEIGHT The height of each turn with the inserts placed the same way round, edge to edge, should be mm so that they can be easily picked up by hand. (The heights of the turns in a bundle should be identical). Minimum turns will apply. Inserts that are curled at the edges on delivery will not be accepted. DO NOT TIE OR WRAP BUNDLES Do not strap or film wrap the individual quires. This is costly in both time and materials and may incur additional labour charges. Strapping can also damage products, PACKAGING GUIDELINES NON RETURNABLE PALLETS Standard size (1 x 1.2m), open-ended non returnable pallets in good condition should be used. Place a carton board on the pallet before stacking to ensure that the bottom layer is not damaged. There should also be a carton insert between each bundle layer. Pallets should be film wrapped as protection against wet weather in transit. Corner protection should also be provided. Strap or film wrap pallets. This is necessary to protect products. Products that arrive in containers will not be accepted. MAXIMUM PALLET WEIGHT The maxium pallet weight is 800kg with a maximum loading height of 120cms. Place a solid piece of wood or a carton sheet on the top of the pallet. This is sufficient if the pallets are not stacked. In the case of a pallet that is to be stacked, a robust wooden cover is necessary. Pile bundles in a way that the outer sides of the pallet piles are level and closed. It is recommended to apply two tapes in each strapping direction in order to obtain greater pile stability.

PACKAGING GUIDELINES (Continued) Strap or film wrap pallets. This is necessary to protect the inserts/onserts. It is recommended to apply two tapes in each strapping direction in order to obtain greater pile stability. Do not use metal straps. For Health and Safety reasons any deliveries made with metal strapping will be refused. Products that arrive in containers will not be accepted.
