Space Explorers

In ICT, we’ll be: Researching information about Space using the internet. Creating multimedia presentations about space using text, pictures, hyperlinks and animations.

In History, we’ll be Researching the important events and figures involved in the Great Space Race. Investigating how the events of the Great Space Race have affected Space exploration in present day.

In Science, we’ll be: Investigating the size, shape and mass of the Sun, Moon and Earth. Investigating light and how it travels. Observing the phases of the moon and patterns of stars in the sky.

In PSHE, we’ll be: (Myself and My Relationships) Learning to contribute ideas about what makes the classroom a safe and happy place to learn. Taking part in activities to build positive relationships in the class and to develop skills of cooperation.

In Art, we’ll be: Investigating satellites and satellite images. Exploring Nebulae and how we can capture their shape, colours and patterns in art.

In Math's, we’ll be: Investigating properties of 2D and 3D shapes. Exploring the relationship between fractions, decimals and percentages and ways to order them. Calculating the perimeter and areas of rectangles and composite shapes. Reading and plotting co-ordinates of planets and stars in space in all four quadrants.

In RE, we’ll be: Understanding the significance of a pilgrimage for a faithful person. Understanding the significance of light at Christmas. In French, we’ll be: Recognising and learning vocabulary related to the planets and space.

.. In Literacy, we’ll be: Using inference to study character profiles and back up ideas using evidence from text. Using language structures to create an argument. Exploring emotions through poetry evaluating the author’s use of language.

Design & Technology Designing and creating ‘moon rock’ cakes. In Music, we’ll be: Exploring sound sources – use of clusters and single sounds using voice and instruments.

In PE, we’ll be: Understanding how to play Hockey. Learning how to control receive the ball. Learning how to dribble at speed whilst shooting.
