What is the National Curriculum? A document that tells schools what they must teach. Why is it changing? The current curriculum is now 14 years old and the Government believe that it is out of date and is no longer satisfactory. September 2014 New Curriculum

Phonics taught daily. Children who did not reach the standard in Year 1 will be retested later this year. Spelling Joined, legible and formed correctly. A move away from word processing. Correct size of letters with finger spaces. Handwriting Writing is assessed throughout year 2 and is teacher assessed in May. Level given must be reflected across several pieces of work.
