Newspapers in Finland In Finland our national newspaper is called Helsingin Sanomat. Helsingin Sanomat is the biggest newspaper in Scandinavia. Its articles contain news from abroad and national matters but also news from our capital city Helsinki. One of the biggest newspapers in Finland is Aamulehti. Its articles contain news that is about a specific area, mostly news from Pirkanmaa, but it also has news from abroad. Our yellow press is called Ilta-Sanomat and Iltalehti. The Yellow press news isn't that important and there are many articles about our celebrities´ latest bloomers. We have a local newspaper in Ikaalinen. Its articles are about our town, Ikaalinen, and news from Jämijärvi and maybe also a little bit from Parkano and Kihniö. I have read news in our newspaper Aamulehti for two weeks, between 7th-18th of December. The biggest topics were, of course, the swine flu, bank strike, climate convention in Denmark, a debate about pensions and Picasso exhibition in Ateneum, Helsinki.
