Character Courage Loyalty

With a partner discuss what those words mean to you. We will brainstorm as a class after the students discuss with each other. I will then type their responses here in list form and we will save it to this document and be able to look back on it later.

LLWS So what does character, courage, and loyalty have to do with our leadership class? Students will view the following video as an intro into our unit on the little league world series, its hometown connections, and how aspects of the organization can teach them how to become a better leader.

We will then have a discussion about what the class knows about little league baseball and what they want to know What We KNOW I will save the students responses here What We WANT To Know

A little Intro …. In total, a representative team from the United States has won the Little League World Series title 37 times, the most of any participating country. Taiwan is second with 17 victories and Japan is a distant third with 6 victors. California holds the record for the State with the most victories at 5. Numerous Major League players participated in the Little League World Series including Gary Sheffield and Matt Holiday. The first Little League World Series was held in 1947 and featured four teams from around Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Students will now get broken up into 4 expert groups. Each group will start on their designated activity page and follow the different links. They can also find more by researching on their own. The activity page is just a starting point for them. Each group will then present their information to the class. Each activity has a primary source analysis that the students will have to fill out as a group and share with the class and a worksheet to follow as they research to help keep them organized for their presentation. (For the actual project students will collect their resources and pictures onto a wiki page)
