3. Baseball Becoming Popular Baseball became popular in the early 1860’s. It lost many clubs due to the civil war but it spread to other parts of the country. 4. The Little League World Series The Little League World Series is held in Williamsport Pennsylvania United States. It was first held in 1947, Now it is held every August. Initially only United States teams competed in the tournament, Now it’s a world wide tournament. Other countries that compete in it are Canada, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Cuba, and China. 5. The World Baseball Classic The World Baseball Classic (WBC) is a baseball tournament with countries competing around the world. The most recent World Baseball Classic was won by Japan in 2009. There has only been two World Baseball Classics, Japan has won both of them. The World Baseball Classic was founded in 2005 and there has been two one in 2006 and one in 2009. The World Baseball Classic is every three years. Countries that compete in these games are, U.S.A, Japan, China, Cuba, Korea, Mexico, Panama, Canada, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic.
