NEWS LETTER February 2010 Matt & Mike to lead from the front! This season will see Newby Hall with a fresh duo of captains for the 1 st and 2 nd teams. After winning the title 2 years ago Matt will be looking to lead the charge for the firsts in Div 1and take back the title ! Mike Shires has stepped into the spotlight and will be leading the 2 nd ’s in Div 3. Mike has a wealth of playing and captaincy experience and will be looking to the top of the division for our promising 2 nd team. Captains 1 st XI Matt Uffindall Missed a season at the helm but wants the league title again !! 2 nd XI Mike Shires Stepping back into captains size boots ! 3 rd Xl tbc. Newby are considering applicants and are aiming to get the right man for the job ! Overseas 2010 Something overseas is a coming !! Newby Hall CC are currently in discussion with several parties to confirm an overseas player for the forthcoming season. Shane Warne, Merv Huges, Alan Donald and Dale Stein were all options but lets see who gets off the plane !!!!!!

Junior Coaching ! Newby Hall Junior Coaching 2010 will once again see the future of cricket, training and playing games at Newby Hall on a Sunday morning. All juniors and welcome to come along and get involved in cricket with the help of our qualified coaches and professional equipment. The sessions will begin on Sunday the 18 th of April. For further details regarding the Sunday morning sessions please contact our Parent Liaison—Kim Stacey – Kim has worked hard to ensure our junior set up is the best in the area and she is always on hand to answer any questions or query's you may have.

Newby Hall 2 nd pitch Our 2 nd pitch is now in full swing and we are proud to offer its services to Burton Leonard 3rds who will be playing a number of their home games on our turf. The standard of the wicket is superb and it’s a shame to see it empty when our 3 rd team are playing their away fixtures. Thanks to everyone involved in setting up this relationship between ourselves and Burton Leonard. We look forward to playing alongside you ! Sponsorship Letters to sponsors are being sent out during February. The club desperately needs the support of businesses in the local community because without their help the club wouldn’t survive. It is important that raising sponsorship is a club wide effort. If anyone knows of any businesses that you think might sponsor Newby Hall, especially ones where you know the owner/manager, please let us have details of the company and a contact name as soon as possible. This might be… Your own business Your parents business Your mates business etc. We offer sponsorships on all levels, ranging from: Hand book sponsorship, prices ranging from £ Match ball sponsorship, £20 a match All money is welcome so please if you can, do your bit and help YOUR club!! Most of our sponsors see their sponsorship as a way of supporting a non for profit local club and of putting something back. It’s kind of a social responsibility thing! All enquiries regarding sponsorship to Mike Shires Online More information regarding our club can be found at:

Signing on Night This seasons signing on night will take place at Newby Hall Cricket Club on Friday 9 th April, from 8pm. The evening is the time when all those wanting to play for Newby come along, get together and sign the summer away to the beautiful game of cricket !! The night will also double up as an awards ceremony for last seasons winners and “other” notable performances of the season !!

New Players ! As always the transfer window is a busy time and we are always on the lookout for new players to join the Newby Juggernaut. All interest is welcome from all players whether you can turn a ball square, bowl at 90mph or just love the sound of leather on willow. Anyone wishing to Join Newby Hall CC should contact any of the captains or any of the players who will be happy to get you onboard. We are also happy to hear from players currently at other local clubs. Are you fed up with your skipper not giving you a chance ? Not happy with the facilities at your current club ? Would like more involvement as a club member and not just a player ? Would like a more social aspect to playing cricket ? Newby Hall CC offers the best in local cricket. So get in touch and enjoy your cricket at top class facilities with great players and your Saturdays could be your favourite day of the week ! A cricket fan says to his wife “I hear Stuart Broard will miss the 20/20 world cup due to injury !” His wife replies “ Must be a bad injury if he’s gonna be out for 10 years !”

Newby Hall CC Events 2010 This year we will once again be embarking on our Golfing day out.. This event has increased in popularity over the years and has become a day to remember for all the attendees. Whether your Tiger Woods or Tony the Tiger it’s a great day out with Golf, Food,Drink and many prizes to be won !!! Here are some of last years players !! Can you guess who they are ?

20/20 Newby Hall will again be battling it out in the fast pace game of 20/20 cricket. Chris Stockil led the team to a memorable cup final last season but this year hands the captaincy over to Richard Clark. Rich captained the 2nds last year and played a major part in the success of the 20/20 squad last year. Chris Stockil said “ I am more than happy to hand the captains role to Rich. His effort and commitment to the club is second to none and I look forward to the coming season with Rich calling the shots !!” To Watch in 2010 Did last years big shots really hit their targets ? Was it the unknowns that became the big names ? This year the seniors are a year slower and the juniors a year bigger ! We believe this year that our youth will fulfil their destiny and become household names in 2010 ! Forget your Uffindall’s, Potter’s and Yeadons and start looking out for the Stacey’s, Leivers and Sidwells ! (Darren that is). The kids are alright at Newby and are getting bigger, Stronger and Faster ! Don’t be fooled by their size your in for a big surprise !!!
