IEEE-SA Topics By: Susan Tatiner and Malia Zaman

CS-SAB Meeting Nov,072 Topics  Web Usability Testing on SDOL  Update on Improving SA Publishing Schedules

CS-SAB Meeting Nov,073 Web Usability Test on SDOL  One-on-one web usability testing was conducted to assess how well the Standards Development On-line site (SDOL) web area met user needs.  Based on the findings, a new architecture was created for the site. The design is currently under way and the next step will be to map and move content to the new design.

CS-SAB Meeting Nov,074 Summary Results for Web Usability Testing  The new architecture will improve the functionality of the SDOL web to better meet the needs of New, Experienced and Working Group Leaders to the site. So they find it easier and, Faster to obtain the information that they need.

CS-SAB Meeting Nov,075 New SDOL Architecture The new architecture will provide two types of pathing:  1. Process Oriented pathing will enable users to find the information that they need by identifying where their project is in the standards development process.  2. Task Oriented pathing will enable users to go directly to the resources that they need to complete a specific task.

CS-SAB Meeting Nov,076 Update on Improving SA Publishing Schedules  Six months from approval to pub is too long; steps taken to improve over long term  Project Editor will be added in 2008 Recruiting now Focus on churning out the work  Divestiture of nonpublishing responsibilities  In-depth review and rebalancing of workload  Scheduling templates to improve efficiency/consistency  A streamlined approach to editorial training  Time management training  We will evaluate our progress mid-year 2008.
