How to get started: Choose your product Do some research on your product What is it’s logo Is there already a headline Who is your target audience

Make sure you include your headline. This is the short & snappy line about your product that grabs peoples attention. (ex. I’m lovin’ it is McDonalds headline) Include a logo as well.

Here is your assignment…

22 Advertisements are all around us today. We are surrounded by print ads, commercials, billboards, television shows, clothing logos, popup ads, and much more. After choosing a product, you will think of different ways to create a photo advertisement, also known as a print ad. It is up to you to sell the product to the consumers. Who are the clients? Who are the consumers? What is the message you are trying to convey in the photograph? You will find multiple photos for your project and integrate them into a print ad. You may use Word, Publisher or Photo Shop…which ever you are most comfortable with.

Your ad must include the following: Logo -A symbol that represents a company. Headline -Short and snappy statement that grabs the consumers attention. At least 3 of the techniques we learned about Bandwagon...Everyone else is doing it, jump on the 'bandwagon', part of the 'in' crowd, follow the trend. Celebrity Endorsement...Celebrity is using the product so I should, if I use this product I'll look/act like this celebrity. Urgency...Quick, limited time, limited quantity, one day sale. Happy Times...Smiles & sun, product will make you happy always. Snob Appeal...Only the 'elite' have this product, having this product makes you special, you have money, intelligence, culture if you have this product. Plain Folks...Typical families benefit from this product, will fit in with your day to day busy life. Facts & Figures...Gives lots of statistics, glamorize the good stats, downplay the bad, for example...lots of vitamins but no mention of the 50 grams of fat. Emotional Appeal...How people feel will make them buy, cute puppies, etc. Humor...Funny=Feel Good=Buy It!! Product will continue to make you feel good. Lifestyle...Product will change your life, new convertible will make you popular, fun, great social life. Unproven Claims...claims with no proof, laundry detergent cleans better than any other (no proof)

General Ad Guidelines: You may use an actual product or create one of your own. It must be school appropriate. You are responsible for your own ad. Turn in a summary (in complete sentences) about your ad including… What is the actual product Who your target audience is Where you would place your ad Which 3 techniques did you use and how. What was your headline or catchy phrase. We will have 1 more class period to work on this if you do not finish; please don’t rush. I want your ad to be something that would make YOU want to buy your product. ****MAKE SURE YOU SAVE YOUR WORK FREQUENTLY****
