RAB requirement industry relations Objective 1.Promote and inform the concept of IEEE as a progressive technical information provider to industry and its employees. 2. Promote and inform the relevance of support of IEEE in developing / changing technologies. 3. Work with industry to establish an understanding of their needs, to determine their further needs and to demonstrate how IEEE can help address their needs. 4. Industry Relations - Functions 1. Identify the local industries and the key players that affect IEEE goals 2. Identify the local industries which either employ IEEE members or potentially have need of IEEE products and services 3. Survey of local industry to determine the IEEE membership/involvement of employees. 4. Promote IEEE to industry as a relevant information provider to enhance their employees technical expertise 5. Develop a program to counsel members to promote IEEE to employers 6. Provide local IEEE volunteers with the means to advocate IEEE to industry. 7. Promote sharing of industry training courses with IEEE sections and chapters and vice versa. 8. Track committee and local volunteer industry contact. 9. Recognize industry for contribution to the technical and professional achievements relevant to IEEE. Recognize industry for high level of IEEE involvement.

Tentative plans for IEEE Industry Liaison Objective : Increase IEEE awareness among the industries within Region 1 for the benefit of both IEEE and employees of different industries Possible benefits: –Increase IEEE membership from Industry –Increase industry participation in many IEEE related events and conferences –Give a chance to the leading industries to take advantage of IEEE’s resources (e.g. Enterprise Xplore) –Give a chance to the employers to reward their employees (e.g., Fellow, other IEEE awards) –Increase cross industry relationship via IEEE (e.g., talks, special interest group) How? –Institute an industry liaison representative for each Section with the help from respective Section chair –Figure out a list of industries within each section to engage with –Make presentation about IEEE with the help from an IEEE official from HQ, section liaison, membership development chair –Request an IEEE liaison from each industry employer within each Section –Invite industry speakers to IEEE sponsored chapter meetings, section meetings –Arrange periodic telecon among the section liaison representatives for planning (e.g., 4 times a year) –Report periodic progress to Region 1 director and get feedback
