The Work Lab The Competency Navigator is a world first web enabled diagnostic tool that collects and analyses information on staff skills and competencies The user is guided through a series of screens that matches their skills to best fit nationally accredited qualifications. Determining what needs to be assessed is a first step in the recognition process. Offering recognition up front at enrolment is a natural place to start. The Competency Navigator prepares users for engagement with Registered Training Organisations – enrolment through recognition Additionally: It is used by RTOs to assist them to work with their industry clients It is used for internal (VET) workforce development and planning It is used by Skills Stores in 4 states, including Victoria Overview of Competency Navigator © The Work Lab 2007

The Work Lab Scenario 1: Return to the Workforce © The Work Lab 2007 Recommended for exploring training opportunities, for people entering the workforce after a period of absence or those people interested in a career change. This workflow can be used to profile job roles and to develop competency based position descriptions. Steps 1.Identify skill clusters relevant to your interests, educational background, work and/or life experience.
