Work Plan for the Best Start Network

What is the work of the Network over the next year? Review Best Start Network Terms of Reference and make applicable changes to reflect the evolution and varying structure of the initiative

Work Plan What other agencies or organizations does the Network feel should be at this planning table. Following are the Best Start Advisory Groups/Best Start Integrated Services Planning Committee recommendations for more partnerships and the potential to develop Community Based Best Start Integrated Services Planning Committees….

Advisory Groups/Best Start Integrated Services Planning Committee Recommended Expansion of Partnerships  Police Services Committee, (O.P.P., Treaty Three)  The Association for Community Living  Ministerial Group & Salvation Army  Fort Frances Chiefs Secretariat  Anishinabeg of Kabapikotawangag Resource Council (AKRC)  Ontario Works  Riverside Health Care Facilities (Physicians)

Best Start Advisory Groups/Best Start Integrated Services Planning Committee Recommended Expansion of Partnerships Riverside Community Counseling (Counselors) Canadian Mental Health Valley Adult Learning Association Volunteer Bureau Victim Services Welcome Wagon Native Women’s Association (Crisis Intervention) Atikokan Crisis Centre Gizhewaadiziwin Health Access Centre

Work Plan Review the structure of the Advisory Groups Planning Committee and their role to the Network. Does it make sense to break off into specific community hub coordination committee to begin addressing their specific issues. (The Atikokan Model) How the Network will use information gathered and there by make recommendations on the Best Start initiative to the Ministry of Children and Youth Services

Work Plan What will be the responsibility of the Network in the development of Best Start Hubs: Operational details, Service Descriptions? What will be the future plan for continued development of Best Start Child Care spaces in the District

Work Plan How will the Network work to remove barriers to information sharing re: Will it mean a coming together of Directors and CEOs partnering with the Best Start Network to determine how protocols or policy will or may need to be changed to reflect Best Start Integrated Services Planning Committees and information sharing to provide better services and access for families? “Families tell their story once”

Work Plan How will the Network develop a step by step process to combining integrated services across the District and the roll out of Best Start Hubs Who will develop an evaluation process to ensure that hubs are meeting the needs of families in the Rainy River District and reflect the Best Start Integrated Implementation Plan

Develop the next steps Using information already gathered come together as a team to plan Strategically develop what are the number 1 priorities, the number 2 priorities and so on Take into consideration, timelines, funding constraints, utilizing what we already have to succeed in moving forward
