Presentation transcript:

Journal 11/15 What is a personal goal you can make to improve how you handle your emotions? (Example: I want to start having more patience with my little brother by counting to ten when I get mad at him)

“Inter” vs “Intra” Conflict Inter conflict is between 2 or more people – Solved through compromise, “I”-messages, and communication Intra conflict is conflict within yourself – Solved by going to someone for help, advice, or just for them to listen

Handling Others’ Conflict (Intra) If a friend comes to you with a problem… what should you do??? Determine if the problem is serious enough to involve an adult, even if the friend asks you not to. Listen! Be supportive If they ask for advice, be careful in your response What should you do if you are the one with the conflict?

Handling Others’ Conflict (Inter) Mediator- a third party who is not bias to either side in the argument and helps the two arguing groups come to a compromise If the argument is serious enough, involve an adult! Make sure that you are fair and calm when helping out

Group Skits on Conflict Resolution Within your group, decide if the conflict is inter or intra conflict. Form a skit that describes the situation, and shows us what a HEALTHY and APPROPRIATE way to handle the situation would be using the skills we have discussed in class You’ll get points for the presentation and everyone in the group must participate in the skit!! Let me know if there are any questions!
