The percentage of students proficient in reading and math as measured by Spring 2013 AIMS is: Content10th Grade AIMS 2013 % Passing Reading74.2% Mathematics46.2%

Title I Program Intents & Purpose Our school has been allocated $ 69, in Federal Title I dollars for use during this school year in addition to school improvement grant funding. These funds are given to schools with the specific purposes of: 1.Ensuring that all students receive a high quality education from highly qualified and effective staff using research-based instructional methods. 2.Supporting struggling learners with additional resources and help in reading and mathematics. 3.Educating and training families so that they may better support their students to achieve at high academic levels.

School Performance/Grades Arizona Department of Education annually rates schools by assigning letter grades. Our current school letter grade is a B. The letter grade is based on a number of factors including: 1.The percentage of students who pass the AIMS test. 2.The percentage of students who are making expected (or better) academic growth. 3.Additional factors such as percentage of students tested, graduation rates, reclassification of English Language Learners. Title I funds help our school maintain/improve our letter grade by improving student achievement through strategic use of federal funds.

School Plan Components Our school has developed a comprehensive plan which addresses our student needs and allocates school Title I resources as follows: 1.To ensure that all students receive a high quality education, all Palo Verde Staff are highly qualified and effective using research based instructional methods. 2.A full-time math support teacher to support struggling learners with additional resources and help in mathematics. 3.Palo Verde has a dedicated community representative to promote academic family engagement in order for students to achieve at high academic levels. 4.Palo Verde is in it’s third year of implementation as a Turnaround School. The Turnaround model also supports students with: 1.Additional instructional staff 2.Teacher Training 3.Student Tutoring 4.Credit Recovery

To ensure that all students receive a high quality education from highly qualified and effective staff using research based instructional methods, our school plan includes the following: a (day dependent) minutes of regular language arts instruction per day. b minutes of regular mathematics instruction per day c.Teacher Training in Understanding by Design, Student Assessment, and Essential Elements of Instruction. d.Instructional, Data, and School Improvement Coaches to support teachers with curricular and lesson plan development, making data based decisions, and school improvement. To support struggling learners with additional resources and help in reading and mathematics, our school plan to improve reading achievement includes the following: Supporting struggling learners with additional resources and help in reading and mathematics. a.Additional minute classes for struggling learners are available in reading, writing, and math b.Conference period twice a week (8:15 a.m. – 8:55 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday) c.Reading/Math Tutors –Tutoring will be held Monday through Friday before and after school –Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. –To inquire about our tutoring program, please contact Will Brock at Program Overview Reading & Math

Parents Right to Know You have the right to request: The qualifications of your child’s teacher and instructional staff Your child’s level of achievement based on required state assessments You must be informed within 4 weeks if: Your child is being taught by a teacher who does not meet the highly qualified requirements of the state All of this information must be in a language and format that is understandable to you.
