This is a REACT TO CONTACT scenario. OBJECTIVE This is a REACT TO CONTACT scenario. The situation can be developed into several courses of action (COA) (I.e., Squad Attack, Break Contact, etc.). While the squad must immediately seek cover and return fire in the direction of known/suspected enemy positions, the SL has to quickly assess the situation (METT-TC), make a decision, and report to higher. OBJECTIVE REQUIRED ACTIONS 1. Soldiers immediately take up the nearest covered positions and return fire in the direction of contact. 2. Team/squad leaders locate and engage known or suspected enemy positions with well-aimed fire, and pass information to the squad/platoon leader. 3. Fire team leaders control rate and distribution of fire. 4. Soldiers maintain contact with the soldiers on their left and right. 5. Soldiers maintain contact with their team leaders and report the location of enemy positions (Distance, Direction, and Description). 6. Leaders check the status of their personnel (ACE). 7. The team/squad leaders maintain contact with the squad/platoon 8. The SL quickly assesses the situation (METT-TC), makes decisions, and keeps higher informed (to include following higher’s orders) RALLY POINT NOTE: This is a REACT TO CONTACT technique (Squad Attack) and is METT-TC dependent.
