A Peek At What We Are Learning Reading Fifth graders explore story elements such as plot and character development as they read and examine a variety of genres. We will be working on strengthening fluency, stamina, and comprehension through a variety of text and activities. Please encourage your child to read 20 minutes per night. Writing Students will be working on the steps of the Writing Process through writing prompts. Math We will begin by reviewing multiplication and division skills to help us ease into the new 5th grade skills. We will then be developing number sense by beginning with whole numbers. Science Students will explore the Scientific Method through hands-on experiences/experiments. Social Studies Geography terms and map skills are reviewed with special attention on the regions of North America and their distinct features.
