1 Third Grade Newsletter What’s Happening in 3rd Grade?
November 6-10 From the desk of the 3rd Grade Teachers Please continue to study multiplication facts with your child nightly. Students are tested weekly on each of the facts. It is important for them to know these facts in order to be successful. Multiplication is one of our target skills. A great part of the test will focus on this skill. Students will be asked to apply these facts in a variety of ways in class and on T-Ready. This is review week of 3’s, 6’s, and 9’s.. , What’s Happening in 3rd Grade? This week we will begin our 3rd novel study, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing (Chapters 1-2). The students will not be allowed to take the books home. Vocabulary Words will be assigned to each group. All words and definitions can be found on the back of this newsletter. This week, there will be a writing prompt based on the 2 chapters from the story. Weekly Skills Math- Division Grammar-Possessives Reading- Cite Evidence Social Studies-South America North America/Midwestern states Science- Chapter 3-4 Just a Reminder * Study assigned multiplication facts with your child *Return all graded papers signed. *Read with your child for 20 minutes each night and sign the IRead20 form. Writing Prompt for the week Each week the students will be given writing prompts. They will work on assigned activities at and school. The writing will be completed in class. We will begin to grade the writing prompts with the Tennessee writing rubric. Important Dates Nov. 10- Veteran’s Day Lunch Nov. 16- Open House Nov Thanksgiving Break Questions? Homework Please check your child’s binder nightly for all Homework Assignments.
