Vocabulary LINE-A point moving in space. SHAPE-An enclosed area. A two-dimensional space that has height and width. VALUE-The lightness or darkness of a shade or hue. FORM- A three-dimensional area that has height, width and depth. TEXTURE-The visual or physical sensation of a surface. How something feels or looks like if might feel. COLOR-the property possessed by an object of producing different sensations on the eye as a result of the way the object reflects or emits light. SPACE-An area that surrounds an object or a physical space that has a foreground, middle ground, and background. On a two-dimensional surface, space is created using a horizon line and vanishing point.

LINE CONTOUR LINE- The outside edges of an object. Draw an image of a contour line drawing. Curve Vertical Zig-zag Horizontal Diagonal

SHAPE FREE-FORM SHAPE- An irregular or uneven shape. Draw and label 2 free-form shapes Draw and label 5 geometric shapes Circle Square Hexagon Triangle Parallelgram

VALUE Create a value scale from 0-6, 0 is white and 6 is the darkest shade. Everything in between are known as middle tones. Highlights (lightest part, value 0) Core Shadow (Darkest part of a shadow, Value 6) Middle tones (values that range between the highlight and core shadow) Cast Shadow (A shadow created by a light source hitting an object)

FORM-A three-dimensional area that has height, width and depth. Change the three shapes below into forms. Add the third dimension and value. height depth width Change this free-form shape into a form by adding value.

COLOR Primary Colors: Red, Yellow, Blue Secondary Colors: Green, Orange, Violet Intermediate Colors: Yellow-orange, red-orange, red-violet, blue-violet, blue-green, yellow-green Complementary: Colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel. Split-Complementary: Colors that are either side of the complementary colors. Example-red, yellow-green, blue-green. Analogous: 3-5 colors that sit side by side each other on the color wheel. Monochromatic: one color plus tints and shades. Neutral Colors: black, white, brown, gray Tint: A color plus white. Shade: A color plus black
