Work-Based Learning This program is for students 16 years or older. This program allows students to receive high school credit while developing skills in the workplace. Students do not have to have employment prior to entering this program; however, the student should have a job in his/her program concentration area to participate. Students in this program must have a driver’s license, student parking permit, and have personal transportation to participate in this program. Students interested in work-based learning should see Mrs. Truluck (Room # 302) for an application, additional information, and regulations.

Dual Enrollment This program allows students 16 years and older to take courses for high school and college credit. Students must meet enrollment requirements of the college. Please see your counselor for more information.

Dual Enrollment Pathways There are three pathways that start during a student’s junior year. These pathways are dual enrollment with Savannah Technical College: Welding Pathway (will need to take Industry Fundamental and Occupational Safety during 9th or 10th grade year as a pre-requisite) Cosmetology Pathway Law Enforcement Services Pathway

Junior Checklist!! Meet with your school counselor to make sure you are on track for graduation. Start researching colleges that you would like to attend to find out what the school’s admission requirements are (you can do this by using GACollege411.org). If you would like to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program, you MUST take the PSAT as a junior.

Junior Checklist!! Plan to take the SAT, ACT, or the COMPASS tests! a) SAT information can be found at www.collegeboard.com b) ACT information can be found at www.act.org c) COMPASS-talk with your counselor!

Junior Checklist!! Attend college fairs to speak with representatives from schools that you are interested in attending. Read “FINANCIAL AID 101” on GACollege411.org to begin your introduction to the world of financial aid. Take campus tours (You are allowed one your junior year and two your senior year if you plan on going during a school day). You must follow school protocol on College 10-Days.

Junior Checklist!! Start your search for scholarships to find free money to help pay for college (talk with your counselor and use the SCHOLARSHIP FINDER on GACollege411.org). Track your GPA eligibility for the HOPE Scholarship (you can do this by going to GACollege411.org)

Junior Checklist!! Continue to participate and volunteer in extracurricular activities…this looks good on a college application!! Talk with your coaches and Mr. Dickey (Athletic Director) about eligibility for college sports.
