RTHS Summary of 2018 Federal Funds

What is Title 1? Federal grant money—Titles I and IIA Annual allocation Purpose: Provide academic assistance for students most in need Raise student achievement and improve the overall instructional program

How does RTHS utilize Title 1 and IIA funds? Strategic Literacy Intervention study halls—Math, Science, Social Sciences, credit recovery science and English Math Lab Increased access to technology Staff development Supplemental materials for content area classes and non-content area classes to incorporate math and reading activities Software subscriptions for intervention purposes Salaries and benefits Funds for homeless students Class-size reduction funds (Title IIA)

Current Title 1 Allocation Total Funds: $387,155 Salaries and Benefits: 189,125 Purchased Services (software licensing, warranties etc…): 8000 Materials: 15,611 Technology materials and equipment (Chromebooks): 77,912 Misc. Instructional Materials (Books, notebooks, highlighters, etc…): 11,454 Equipment: 967 Professional Development: 53,669 Data Management Firm: 4764 NWEA MAP: 9900 Non-instructional supplies for homeless students: 25 Survey Monkey for parent surveys: 204 Parent Supplies: 500 Administrative/Bookkeeping Costs: 15,024

Current Title II Allocation Total Funds: $11,316 Curriculum Development stipends for teachers: 10,155 Tuition for Teacher to become Dual Credit Certified: 1161

Student-Parent-School Compact The compact is an agreement by the district, the student and the parent to assist in student achievement. This is found in the handbook that each student receives each year at registration. The following information is contained in that compact:

RTHS Provide staff and parents with professional development in raising student achievement. Hold Parent-Teacher Conferences Provide parents with frequent reports of their child’s progress Provide parents with access to staff Provide parents with opportunities to volunteer and participate

Parent Attendance: report and monitor Homework and tutoring Participate in decision making opportunities Stay informed of academic progress Read all correspondence from the school Participate on committees and complete surveys

Student Attend school regularly Attend classes regularly with minimal tardies Do homework daily Accept responsibility for my own actions Give my parent/guardian all correspondence from RTHS

Definition of Parent Involvement Statutory definition of Parent Involvement: The participation of parents in regular 2-way communication involving student academic learning and other activities. RTHS will ensure that: Parents play an integral role in assisting their child’s learning Parents are encouraged to be actively involved at school Parents are full partners in their child’s education Carry out all other activities as required by NCLB

Title 1 Parental Involvement Policy General Expectations: RTHS will consult parents when writing and implementing the school improvement plan RTHS will adopt the parent compact RTHS will incorporate this plan into the school improvement plan RTHS will see to it all parents can participate in school improvement processes regardless of extenuating circumstances RTHS agrees to submit any parent comments with the plan when the plan is submitted RTHS will involve parents in how NCLB funds are allocated RTHS will provide support for parent involvement activities

Title 1 Parental Involvement Policy Implementation of parent involvement policies: RTHS will distribute the parent involvement policy, compact and Right to Know letter at the annual meeting RTHS will post the parent involvement policy on the website RTHS will use weekly late start time to identify strategies to improve student achievement RTHS will provide a title 1 survey to parents RTHS will have an annual meeting and parents will be notified by mail and email. Information about parent involvement will be shared at weekly late start meetings The school will work with all parents to accommodate any special requests they may have

Parents Right to Know All parents are entitled to request information regarding the professional qualifications of his/her child’s teachers. This includes: State qualifications and licensing Whether the teacher has an emergency or provisional certificate The degree earned by the teacher Any qualifications of paraprofessionals
