2. What is Title I?
Title I, Part A is a federal program that provides funds to assist schools with high percentages of students from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.

3. Parker Elementary is a Title I school and received $390,852 for the 18-19 school year.

4. How did we decide to use these funds?
We analyzed our latest academic, discipline, and attendance data.
We determined the areas of greatest need.
We looked for barriers that prevented our students from making the achievement they needed.
We developed the following strategies:

5. Area of Focus 1: Proficiency in ELA and Math
Expenditures: After school tutoring, paras, instructional supplies, inclusion teacher, teacher/admin training, parent liaison, parent communications and events
Area of Focus 2: Instructional Time
Expenditures: Guidance counselor, summer planning, student services interventionist

6. Goals for 18-19
1. Increase ELA proficiency from 46% on the 2018 FSA to 51% on the 2019 FSA.
2. Increase math proficiency from 43% on the 2018 FSA to 47% on the 2019 FSA.
3. Reduce the number of referrals from 340 in to 275 in the school year.

7. 17-18 Goals and Outcomes
Goal:  Increase proficiency on the 2019 FSA in ELA from 39% to 44% , and in math, from 41% to 45%. Outcome: Exceeded! 2018 ELA 47%, math 46%
Goal:  Reduce the number of students in MTSS by 10% Outcome: MTSS rates decreased by 5% from 16-7 to While behavior MTSS decreased by 15%, academic MTSS increased by 10%.

8. 3. Goal: Average daily attendance rate will increase by 1% from 1-17 to  Outcome: It increased from 92.9% to 93.2%.
4. Goal:   Decrease ODR's from 465 to 325 from to  Outcome: Almost - decreased from 465 to 340 (37%)
5. Goal:   Increase ELA Learning Grains from 60% to 66% and Math Learning Gains from 45% to 52% on the 2018 FSA. Outcome: Exceeded! ELA 67% and Math 69% (17 percentage points more than goal!)

12. Encourage Attendance
Let your child know that school is important by making sure s/he is in school and on time every day. This is one of the most important ways to show that you are involved in his/her education! EVERY DAY COUNTS!

14. Communicate with Your Child’s Teacher(s)
Attend parent teacher conferences to review your child’s results on assessments, monitor progress, and help formulate suggestions and participate in decisions relating to your child’s education.
Keep the teacher informed of events or illnesses happening in your child’s life that might impact his/her ability to concentrate or trigger behaviors.
Find the best method for you to communicate regularly with your child’s teacher(s) and use it.

15. Attend Parent Events
Become better informed about the school’s curriculum, expectations, and assessments.
Learn what you can do at home to help your child be successful in school.
Learn new parenting skills.

19. Join the School Advisory Council
Provide input in the planning, review and improvement of the Parent and Family Engagement Plan and the School Improvement Plan.
Make decisions about the Title I parent involvement funds.
Stay up to date on all of the activities happening on campus.

20. Other Ways to be Involved
Praise your child often!
Take time to listen to your child each day.
Read the monthly Home School Connection newsletter and try some of the fun activities with your child.
Ask your child each day what they learned in school.
Establish homework and bedtime routines.
Encourage your child to do his/her best.
Praise your child often! (Worth saying twice!)

21. Know Your Parents’ Rights
You have the right to request and receive information on the qualifications of your child’s teacher(s) and paraprofessional(s) who are working with your child. Call Genia at
You have the right to know when your child is taught by a teacher or substitute teacher for 4 or more consecutive weeks who does not hold a Florida certificate or certification in the level or subject that s/he has been assigned. You will receive a letter from the school notifying you.
You have the right to be information on your child’s level of academic growth on Florida State Assessments (FSA). You will receive notification through Parent Portal and a hardcopy.
You have the right to request state and local educational policy regarding students participation in any mandated assessments.

22. You have the right to give input in the planning, reviewing, and implementation of the following:
School Improvement Plan
Parent and Family Engagement Plan (PFEP) for the school and the district
School Compacts
You can give input by:
Joining the School Advisory Council
Joining the District Parent Task Force
Completing and returning surveys
Completing evaluations at the end of parent events
