2. What is Title I?
Title I, Part A is a federal program that provides funds to assist schools with high percentages of students from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.

4. How did we decide to use these funds?
We analyzed our latest academic, discipline, and attendance data.
We determined the areas of greatest need.
We looked for barriers that prevented our students from making the achievement they needed.
We developed the following strategies:

5. Area of Focus 1: Reading and Math Learning Gains
Expenditures: Classroom teacher, intervention teacher, inclusion teacher, paras, instructional supplies, chromebooks, computer lab para, Bricks for Kidz, library books, math coach, teacher training, planning, academic field trips, parent liaison, parent communications and events
Area of Focus 2: Discipline
Expenditures: Social worker, posters, behavior interventionist

6. Goals for 18-19
1. Increase the number of students in the lowest 25% making learning gains in ELA from 43% to 60%.
2. Increase the number of students in the lowest 25% making learning gain in math from 46% to 60%.
3. Increase the number of student making learning gains overall in ELA from 38% to 60%.

7. 4. Increase the number of students making learning gains overall in math from 41% to 60%.
5. Increase proficiency in the area of ELA from 27% to 50% and in area of math from 31% to 50%.
6. Increase our school grade from a D to a B!

8. 17-18 Goals and Outcomes
Goal:  Comparing office referrals from to 17-18, the number of referrals will decline by 15%.
Outcome: Met and exceeded! Referrals declined by 40%! (1063 to 631)
Goal: Science proficiency will increase from 17% to 55%. Outcome: Not met - increased from 17% to 24%.
Goal: Math proficiency will increase from 20% to 55%. Outcome: Not met - increased from 20% to 31%.

12. Encourage Attendance
Let your child know that school is important by making sure s/he is in school and on time every day. This is one of the most important ways to show that you are involved in his/her education! EVERY DAY COUNTS!

14. Communicate with Your Child’s Teacher(s)
Attend parent teacher conferences to review your child’s results on assessments, monitor progress, and help formulate suggestions and participate in decisions relating to your child’s education.
Keep the teacher informed of events or illnesses happening in your child’s life that might impact his/her ability to concentrate or trigger behaviors.
Find the best method for you to communicate regularly with your child’s teacher(s) and use it.

15. Attend Parent Events
Become better informed about the school’s curriculum, expectations, and assessments.
Learn what you can do at home to help your child be successful in school.
Learn new parenting skills.

19. Join the School Advisory Council
Provide input in the planning, review and improvement of the Parent and Family Engagement Plan and the School Improvement Plan.
Make decisions about the Title I parent involvement funds.
Stay up to date on all of the activities happening on campus.

20. Other Ways to be Involved
Praise your child often!
Take time to listen to your child each day.
Read the monthly Home School Connection newsletter and try some of the fun activities with your child.
Ask your child each day what they learned in school.
Establish homework and bedtime routines.
Encourage your child to do his/her best.

21. Know Your Parents’ Rights
You have the right to request and receive information on the qualifications of your child’s teacher(s) and paraprofessional(s) who are working with your child. Call Genia at
You have the right to know when your child is taught by a teacher or substitute teacher for 4 or more consecutive weeks who does not hold a Florida certificate or certification in the level or subject that s/he has been assigned. You will receive a letter from the school notifying you.
You have the right to be information on your child’s level of academic growth on Florida State Assessments (FSA). You will receive notification through Parent Portal and a hardcopy.
You have the right to request state and local educational policy regarding students participation in any mandated assessments.
