3 College View Title I 2018-19 What is Title I?
Title I was enacted in 1965 under the Elementary and Secondary Act. It is the largest Federal Assistance Program for our nation’s schools. Title I provides federal funds through Kentucky Department of Education to schools with at least 40% of the student population receiving free and reduced meals.

Title I is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and meet and exceed state standards. The goal is to provide a high-quality education for every child, so the program provides extra help to students who need it most.

Proven, research based instructional methods must be utilized in the classrooms. Parental involvement and engagement activities must be scheduled regularly.

7 Parental Rights Under Title I
College View - Title I You have the right to give input about how Title I Parental Involvement money is spent. You have the right to review the annual Title I schoolwide plan, including elements of parental involvement You have the right to request the qualifications of your child’s teacher by contacting the school principal. You will be notified of your child’s progress through a report card. You will be notified if your child is taught by 20 or more consecutive days by a teacher who is not highly qualified for the grade level and/or subject served. You may view the overall status of your child’s school by viewing the School’s Annual Report Card on the Kentucky Department of Education website. You will receive copies of your child’s student achievement report on state academic assessments You will be informed regarding your child’s participation in an state or local assessments. What is Parental Involvement? Parental involvement means the participation of parents in regular, two-way, and meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school activities, including ensuring:  That parents play an integral role in assisting their child’s learning.  That parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child’s education.

9 What is Parental Involvement?
College View Title I What is Parental Involvement? That parents are full partners in their child’s education and are included, as appropriate, in decision-making and on advisory committees to assist in the education of their child.  The carrying out of other activities, such as those described in section 1118 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA).

11 Communication with Parents
College View Title I| Parents are informed of student behavior, offered incentives and school announcements via the weekly point sheet students take home the last school day of each week. College View Title I| K-PREP: Kentucky Performance Rating for Educational Progress ACCESS: Language Proficiency assessment for students who are identified as English Learners MAP: Measures of Academic Progress Administered in reading and mathematics Brigance Screener: for Kindergarten readiness College Admissions Examination: To be determine by KDE. The ACT was administered in recent years. Naglieri: Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test is a measure of general ability and used as a universal screener in Grade 4 for identification for Gifted and Talented Services Alternate Testing: Alternate versions of the assessments above may be used for students with the most severe cognitive disabilities as identified under federal and state criteria Note: In addition to the schedule above, individual assessments may also be administered to students for identification in special programs and services. College View Title I| Kentucky’s new assessment and accountability system is under development. More details will be forthcoming. Senate Bill 1 (SB 1), enacted in the 2009 Kentucky General Assembly, required a new public school assessment program beginning in the school year. These assessments were collectively named the Kentucky Performance Rating for Educational Progress (K-PREP) tests. The assessment for grades 3-8 is a criterion-referenced test (CRT) consisting of multiple-choice (MC), extended-response (ER) and short answer (SA) items.
