THE MUSCULAR SYSTEM. Muscles that move your body are attached to your skeleton. Because of your muscles, you can walk, run, smile, breathe, or swallow.
Lesson 4 – The Muscular System
{ Muscular System Making the Body Move.  Voluntary – you can control  Involuntary – work independently Muscles are Smart.
Your marvelous muscles What are the three types of muscles? How do we identify them? What do they do?
The muscular system makes movement possible.

Ch Notes The Muscular System. There are about 600 muscles in the human body. Muscles have many functions such as: –Keep your heart beating –Pull.
MUSCLES  Like a machine, your body consists of many parts that move. Those parts are your bones and muscles.

The Muscular System. Muscles Muscles are organs that relax and contract, and provides the force to move your body parts – Voluntary muscles  muscles.
How Do the Skeletal & Muscular Systems Work V. Martinez A
Muscular System. What’s the Purpose? The Muscular system’s main function is to assist our body with movement. Muscles pull the bones to produce movement.
The Muscular System. 1. The main function of the muscular system is to work with our skeletal system to help us move.
Muscles. MUSCLES Muscle – Organ that contracts and relaxes (returns to regular length). As a result, body parts move. Tendon – thick bands that attach.

Mrs. Wharton’s Science Class Muscles ( Important stuff you should have in your notes) Mrs. Wharton’s Science Class

Purpose The purpose of the muscular system is to give the body strength and to give the body its final shape.

Muscles Types Voluntary- You control ( smiling or turning the pages in a book) Involuntary- You don’t control ( heart beating, digestive system)

Muscle Tissue Types Skeletal- attached to the bones of your skeleton Tendon- attaches muscle to bone Striated or striped.

Muscle Tissue Types Smooth Muscle- these are involuntary because they work automatically. Usually found inside organs. Cardiac Muscles- Found in the heart. These are involuntary.

Works in pairs Because muscle cells can only contract, not extend, skeletal muscles must work in pairs. While one muscles contracts, the other relaxes to its original length. It is important to exercise to maintain muscular strength and growth!!!!
