Amazing Magnificent Elephants By. Shelby May 7, 2018

Elephants Habitats They live in Africa, Asia, India. In India, people have used elephants to move around.

Elephants Appearance An Asian elephant weighs about 40,000 to 50,000 pounds. An elephants most obvious part is the trunk, and the trunk is a very long nose, made from the upper lip.

Elephants Families The female elephants take care of the babies. In the wild, elephants have strong family relationship. Their way of acting toward each other are hard for people to understand.

Elephants Names A male elephant is called a bull. A female elephant is called a cow. A baby elephant is called a calf.

Status Today Both African and Asian elephants are endangered species. In 1989, trade in elephants and their products (ivory, meat) was made illegal.

Other Interesting Facts about Male Elephants The male elephant has 24 teeth counting all of them. 12 front teeth and 12 back teeth. Male elephants can live up to 70 year old.
