Welcome to Back to School Night! Mrs.Marvin’s 5th Grade Science & Social Studies 2018-2019

What your child should know….Science Beginning of the Year All kindergarten sight words Recognize/sounds A-Z Reading/decoding consonant-vowel-consonant End of the Year Reading at least 40 words per minute on a level I/J passage with fluency. Kinder/1st sight words

What your child should know….Social Studies Beginning of the Year Writes first/last name correctly Writes all letters of the alphabet correctly Phonetically spells words when writing sentences. End of the Year Writes sentences with correct capitalization, punctuation, spacing and thought process All high frequency words are spelled correctly Sequence thoughts within writing a story and a paragraph. (First, second, then, last...
