Week of: Sept. 25th The students had several individual celebrations this week. Several of our students moved to new books in the high frequency books. But as a class , I want you guys to know they are working hard on their reading. I can tell most of us have practiced at home. Our cold reads on the passages are getting higher each week. This shows reading improvement. So, hats off to all who are sticking to the homework routine. It is paying off. Please make sure students are doing the homework routine every night. Reading Fluency is so important. We graph their progress weekly. (THURSDAY) So if they have stayed on the same passage for a few weeks that usually means they aren’t practicing at home. If you need help or have questions about the homework please give me a call. I am more than willing to demonstrate. I want every child to be a fluent reader when they leave first grade! It is crucial to their future academic success. Please make sure your child returns his high frequency reader each day. If they do not have their reader ON TEST DAY THEY WILL RECEIVE A ZERO. All work sent home is graded work. If we need to conference please call me so we can schedule. Conference time: 12:55-1:45 Plus 2’s will continue this week also.
