What were the proposed cuts? 4.3% cut in funding for adults 2011/12 Removal of 1.2 programme weighting for ESOL and Literacy Work-based ESOL no longer funded Learner contribution rises to 50% Learners on “inactive” benefits not entitled to fee remission

Impact 64% of adult ESOL students on “inactive” benefits A further 80 students fees supported through discretionary ESOL LSF

And... 75% of those affected women 15% of those attending in the daytime fee paying 20+ FT/Fractional jobs under threat and 40+ Sessional
