Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education Oklahoma’s Promise Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education March 2019 Counselors Only Conference

OKPromise Timeline Around the end of July/first of August New year materials mailed to the schools Fall – Notification College Students Enrolled HS Seniors HS Seniors with incomplete apps HS Juniors with incomplete apps Spring Notification Enrolled – All HS (minus seniors) HS Sophomores with incomplete apps HS Freshmen with incomplete apps HS Seniors with incomplete apps (round 2 – Final Notice) End of April Program Verification forms mailed to high schools College students – we remind them of the $100K and to file the FAFSA every year; the 2018 grads reminder of no remedial payment and 129 credit hour limit on payment HS Seniors - $100K, FAFSA, remedial, GPA All Enrolled – mainly Gpa and intro to FAFSA

Curriculum Worksheet – Why? Tracking from time of signing up Students know where they stand Shows both GPAs Helps the OKPromise office during evaluation by showing us abbreviated courses by letting us know what courses your school district counts as a "lab science“ if the OKPromise GPA is borderline, we can see what courses the counselor used to push it up to or over 2.50

I didn’t receive a pre-populated Program Verification for a student I didn’t receive a pre-populated Program Verification for a student. What do I do? It’s possible the student is not officially enrolled, feel free to check with us If the student transferred to you from another HS, we may not have him moved to your school; call us or add your school name on the blank form Blank forms are available on our website at https://www.okhighered.org/okpromise/teachers-counselors.shtml Mail it in with your other students or on it’s own with the transcript and curriculum worksheet

I received a Program Verification for a student I received a Program Verification for a student. He’s never been on my list of enrolled students. Why and what do I do? The student may have transferred from another school and didn’t inform our office until after the PV forms were mailed This was possibly an incomplete application that was completed at the last minute In the first 2-3 weeks of May, we will email the forms to you if we know where the student graduated Later in May and throughout the summer, we send the forms to the student and let them know they should contact you These students may not complete the requirements, this is NOT the counselor’s fault!

Curriculum Reminders (from past seniors’ transcripts) Financial Literacy, Intermediate Algebra, Math of Finance and Tech Connect courses do not count toward the OKPromise curriculum. Current Events/Issues, International Problems, Problems of Democracy, Psychology and Sociology courses do not count as a “History or Citizenship Skills” course and may not be used for the OK Promise curriculum. Courses must be college prep. No ELL or SPED courses. Incomplete Program Verification forms (missing checkmarks, signatures, etc.) GPAs – two and both must be 2.50; No rounding. If you need assistance calculating the core GPA, please call OKPromise. Additional unit must be from the core curriculum and does not include fine arts. Cannot “double count” courses. The additional unit is “additional” not duplicated.

Curriculum Reminders (cont.) If you want to weight a course, the grading scale must be on the transcript so that we know how much weight to assign. Please send complete transcripts (missing 8th grade courses, missing semesters, missing HS courses, etc.) When a student has a borderline GPA, check to see if he has more courses than you need in a subject area; use the highest grade possible. Use accurate grades on the curriculum worksheet. If the student does not meet the GPA, unfortunately they will not qualify. Program Verification notes: Please send original PV packet and keep copies for yourself. If you need an additional PV, there are blank ones on our website.
