Abstract art is art that does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality. Oill Painting By Wassily Kandinsky, 1913

ABSTRACT ART Painting by Jackson Pollock, 1952

Cubism was a revolutionary new approach to representing reality invented around 1907–08 by artists Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. They brought different views of subjects together in the same picture. CUBISM Friendship By Pablo Picasso 1908

Non-objective art is a type of abstract art that is usually, but not always, geometric. The title Swinging expresses this work’s sense of dynamic movement. Kandinsky believed painting should aim to be as abstract as music. He worked to create art that was free from all references to the material world. For him, colour in particular was essential for liberating art from representing the visible world. Wassily Kandinsky Swinging 1925

NON-Objective art Piet Mondrian Composition with Yellow, Blue and Red 1937-1042

Non-objective sculpture Naum Gabo Construction in Space: Diagonal Glass, cellulois and metal 1921-1925

BALANCE CONTRAST In symmetrical balance, the elements used on one side of the design are similar to those on the other side; in asymmetrical balance, the sides are different but still look balanced. In radial balance, the elements are arranged around a central point and may be similar A principle of art that refers to the arrangement of opposite elements (light vs. dark colors, rough vs. smooth textures, large vs. small shapes, etc.) in a piece so as to create visual interest, excitement and drama.
