Back Ground: Read the background information handout with your group. Answer question 1 & 2 on page 34

Reading: Read the “about the author” box. As you read the text with your group mark the text for answer to the questions: What cultural elements are described that reveal a sense of the narrator’s cultural identity? What are the reasons for the conflict? How are the conflicts resolved?
