1. Students will be able to describe the techniques and methods that authors use to develop voice in various multicultural passages and stories, then analyze their purpose in creating character, tone, and theme, which will culminate in the creation of a college personal essay where they develop their own sense of voice. 
Students will be able to identify existential ideologies in literature and analyze the purpose of the genre in the literary framework of man’s search for identity.
Students will learn and then be able to use literary theory to evaluate a text for various meanings.

3. Reflection on Voice Learning Goal:
