Judicial Branch Not Guilty!!!

Supreme Court Highest ranking court in the GA Seven justices are elected to 6 year terms Appellate Court- only review cases on appeal from lower-ranking courts Interpret state constitution Reviews all cases involving death penalty Final authority in law at the state level

Court of Appeals 12 judges serve, elected to 6 year terms Only hears appeals from lower courts

Trial Courts Hear original cases, criminal and civil cases between private parties

Interpreting Laws/Ensuring Justice Enforce constitutional laws, statutory laws-passed by the General Assembly, case law- court interpretations of written laws Protect citizens from abuses by government by ensuring that each citizen has “due process of law”
