Daily Board Work Students have a notebook exclusively for this class – checked about once a week Each day when students enter class, they write down the learning target for the day and any “Opener” question they are asked (then answer it) Daily board

Homework Policy Homework is given 2-4 times per week* Usually due the following day Fridays are usually no homework days!! Blank homework, homework left in lockers or at home can sometimes be done for ½ credit – must be turned in by Thursday following the assignment due date. Absent work can be found on the class website most days at: www.mrswallaceacademy.weebly.com Students have two days to complete absent work for full credit. Assignments not available online may be picked up by a sibling or neighbor at the end of the day if you wish.

Homework and Jag Study Incomplete homework can be turned in the following day for (-10%) of the points earned Work completed at Jag Study Monday-Thursday and signed by supervising teacher will also be graded as “incomplete” – must be turned in by Thursday (3:45pm) Jag Study is held Monday – Thursday from 2:45pm-3:45pm. There is a schedule on my door indicating locations and subjects. Periodically your student may receive an “invitation” – this indicates the student is currently earning below 70%.

Planners are a Daily assignment 9th graders were given a planner the first week of school. 10th and 11th graders can purchase one from me for $0.75 It is recommended that students carry the planner from class to class. Students can earn up to 6 points extra credit per week in my class by completely filling out their planner daily Must be filled out for each school day the previous week (even if absent) Must be filled out for all 6 classes (5 pts per week – all or nothing) Must be with the student, and student must be present on planner check day You can help your child by: Reinforcing the use of a daily planner for all classes Checking their planner daily and asking them to show you homework that is completed from time to time. (*Signature once per week = 1 pt*) Reminding them of long-term project/paper due dates so that they can break down the work into manageable chunks and helping them study for tests and quizzes

Other Extra Credit Opportunities Extra credit assignments are available anytime and can be turned in anytime. It is added to grades at the end of each card marking, and only to grades 60% and above. In the event that the student does not have 60%, it will be held until the next card marking ends.

Questions? Concerns? I encourage you to check MiStar on a regular basis. Grades will be updated once a week, usually on Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning. I welcome phone calls and emails. My phone extension is 3181 Email is a more reliable way to contact me. michelle.wallace@apps.k12.mi.us
