Russell Elementary School By: Bridget Purdy April 2014 Data Overview Russell Elementary School By: Bridget Purdy April 2014

Russell’s Purpose To get comfortable talking about our school’s data To identify our Strengths and Weaknesses To create an Action Plan that focuses on improving Student Achievement

Russell Elementary School Demographics Russell Elementary School

2010-2011 did not make AYP

Russell Elementary Enrollment

In Summary Russell Elementary There has been a significant variation in enrollment numbers over the past 5 years Enrollment increased in 2009-10 and plateaued the following year, then dropped significantly for the 2011-12 school year Enrollment increased dramatically in 2012-13 The Hispanic population has slightly increased over the last 5 years, while the Asian population has slightly decreased over the last 5 years Student groups have remained consistent over the last 5 years with a slight variance

Russell Elementary School CRCT Test Results Russell Elementary School

In Summary Russell Elementary White students are still out performing in all areas compared to the Black and Hispanic students Reading and ELA are strengths, however our content areas seem to suffer , especially in Social Studies at 66% Scores in all subject areas have declined since the pervious year, this may be impart to the implementation of the Common Core Students with Disabilities are performing well below other student groups in all subject areas except for Science Science scores for Students with disabilities have increased by 7% from the previous year

Math Results Russell Elementary

In Summary Russell Elementary Students in 3rd, 4th and 5th are preforming below the state and district level in the “exceeds” category Students in 3rd and 4th grade are performing slightly higher than the state and district levels in Math The number of students not meeting is above both the state and the district in grades 3rd, 4th and 5th Students with disabilities are performing well-below the other subgroups in Math Black, Hispanic and White students showed a decrease in scores from the previous year

Russell Elementary Discussion Strengths Reading and Language Arts consistently stay our front runners. What can we contribute to our success? How can we transfer that into our content areas? The “exceeds” category is showing increases in Reading, language Arts and Math . How can we continue to move students from the “does not meets” and “meets” categories to the “exceeds” category? Weaknesses Students with Disabilities are performing below other subgroups. How can we specifically focus on the needs of these students to increase their achievement? There continues to be an achievement gap within our Race/Ethnicity groups. How can we ensure all students maintain a high level of school performance?

Where Do We Go From Here Russell Elementary Develop safety nets that work for our students who are more academically challenged. Discuss strengths and weakness in Data teams and determine academic strategies for individual students, then track the results. Hone Data teams to become more intentional in our data analysis and more practical in the ways we use data. Monitor success, learn from failures.
