Pinckney VERSUS Democratic-Republicans Thomas Jefferson & Aaron Burr Adams claimed Jefferson was a pro-French radical who wanted to destroy religion Democratic- Republican newspapers said Adams wanted to be king & would use the army to limit rights Jefferson defeated Adams, but election was tied between Jefferson & Burr The House was called on to break the tie but was deadlocked.
