Satellite Navigation Systems GPS – Global Positioning System Satellite Navigation Systems use GPS have 24 satellites named NAVSTAR orbiting the earth. The receiver listens for signals from these satellites. If it picks up signals from three or four different satellites it can calculate your exact position.
