LIVING THINGS AND THE ENVIRONMENT STANDARD S. 6.5e Students know the number and types of organisms an ecosystem can support depends on the resources.
Ecosystems are made up of both living and nonliving things
In this unit you will learn about how to: Analyze how ecosystems differ from each other due to abiotic and biotic factors.

Abiotic & Biotic Factors

Living Things and The Environment The environment is very important. It’s a combination of many things that work together to keep organisms alive and thriving. Organisms get many things from their environment. Food Shelter And other necessities to allow them to live, grow and reproduce.

Organisms and The Environment An organisms interacts with both the living and nonliving parts of its habitat. The living parts of an environment are called biotic and the non living are called abiotic.

Biotic Factors Biotic factors are all the parts of an environment that organisms interact with that are alive or once where alive. Biotic factors are: Any living organisms – dogs, cats, plants, seeds, birds, snails, bugs, leaves, worms… Decomposing matter – dead leaves, dead animals, dead things….

Abiotic Factors Abiotic factors are parts of the environment that are not alive but are important for an organisms survival. Abiotic factors are: Sunlight Soil Temperature Oxygen Water

Why are biotic and Abiotic Factors important to living organisms? Biotic and abiotic factors are important to living things because without these factors organisms couldn’t survive. It includes food and shelter. Animals, plants, seeds.. The abiotic parts of an environment include things like the soil things grow in and the water they use to survive. Without biotic or abiotic factors living things would die. Why are biotic and Abiotic Factors important to living organisms?
