1 An environment is made up of all the living and non-living things with which an organism (living thing) may interact

2 Organisms depend on their environment
Organisms depend on their environment. They get the food, water and other resources they need to live and grow from their environment.

3 Organisms can also change in response to
conditions in the environment.

5 Organisms also cause change to
their environment

8 All of the living & non-living things in an environment are interconnected. The environment’s web includes its plants, animals, soil, water, temperature, light and other living and non-living things.

9 Abiotic= non- living Biotic = living

10 Ecology is the study of the relationships & interactions of living things with one another and with their environment.

11 An ecosystem consists of all the living and non-living things in a given area that interact with one another.

12 Ecosystems overlap and affect one another.
Damage to one ecosystem may result in damage to other ecosystems

13 The living part of any ecosystem – all
the different organisms in that area is called a community

14 A population is a group of organisms of the same type, or species, living together in
the same area.

15

16 The place where an organism lives is called its habitat.

17 A habitat provides the food, water, shelter, space and other resources an organism needs to survive.

18 The size of an organism’s habitat depends on the organism’s
habits and needs.
