Forms the basis of alphabet used in many countries today including the United States 3. Sea trade caused the alphabet to spread

II. The Israelites (Hebrews) A. Abraham Led his people to practice monotheism, a belief in one god Followed God’s direction to leave Mesopotamia B. Canaan to Egypt While living in Canaan, famine caused the Israelites to flee to Egypt Israelites lived in Egypt for hundreds of years
