Transcona Collegiate Institute Scholarship Information

Purpose Provide information to increase your chances of receiving a monetary award and accessing money for school!

Options for University Entrance

University of Manitoba- U1 Three options: Must meet high school graduation requirements and have 5 full credits at the S, G or U level (PE does not count) Set C – limited admission/same as above but lacking the minimum English requirement Specific faculties have additional requirements- see website umanitoba.ca/admissions for details. University of Manitoba- U1 Three options: Set A – minimum 70% average in three grade 12 S or U credits, including one credit of grade 12 English with a minimum grade of 60%. Set B –limited admission/ same as above except a minimum average of 63-69.9%

- depending on the area of study certain pre-requisites may apply. Must meet high school graduation requirements and have 5 full credits at the S, G or U level (PE doesn’t count) University of Winnipeg- Present a minimum of one core credit in English ( Comprehensive, Literary or Transactional Focus), one credit of Mathematics ( Pre- Cal, Applied or Essentials) and one other 40S level course with a minimum 65% average in all three. - depending on the area of study certain pre-requisites may apply. Admission to Colleges Most colleges require a regular high school diploma which means 30 credits, including English 40S, Math 40S, PE 40F and two other 40 level courses. Specific math or science requirements may apply depending on the program Check with the college for specific details.

Entrance Scholarships at U of M The following grade 12 courses may be used to calculate your average for entrance scholarships: *English (may use two English courses) *Math Pre Cal or Applied *Biology *Chemistry *Physics *Family Studies or Foods and Nutrition *History /Global Issues *French or another language *Music (one only) *Art *Computer Science

Entrance Scholarships at U of W Your average will be calculated based on your English, Math and one other 40S level course English – any of the three types we offer Math – Pre- Cal, Applied or Essentials One other 40S course (Dance and Electronics would not count but any other 40s course does

Scholarship Values University of Winnipeg 95% and over - $2250 90%-94.9% - $1750 85%-89.9% - $1100 Offered based on 1st semester final grades University of Manitoba 95-100% - $3000 90-94.9% - $2000 85-89.9% - $1000 and April interim grades

How do I apply? The best way to apply to any post – secondary institution is online. Once you have applied to either university you are automatically entitled to entrance scholarships provided you meet the minimum grade average of 85% and apply by the deadline of Mar. 1st
