Part Time Officer Elections Candidate Meeting

Introductions from Deputy Returning Officer Ian Bruce Who we are, what we’re going to cover, what the purpose of this presentation is

Rules Abide by University Regulations, By-laws and the Law. Keep within your budget (£50). No campaigning of any kind by you or any of your supporters should take place at or near the Ballot Station areas. You are responsible for those who campaign on your behalf.

Additional Notes All Executive Officers, Executive Officers Elect, Part Time Officers (not re-running), Media Groups, Staff (University and Union) and Student Staff whilst they are working are required to be neutral. You are able to campaign in the Students’ Union building but due to health and safety concerns no banners or items are to be attached to any balconies within the Union Square. Displaying publicity material either in Victoria Park or on University Road is against local Council rules. No campaigning is allowed in dining rooms within Halls of Residence, the Union Reception, or in the Library. You aren’t able to utilise the Students’ Union or University branding. For O2 nights we have been advised that the only promotional material that will be permitted will be t-shirts. If you have used your own personal printer (or a friends), then we will charge you at Library prices, for your information the price list is included below:- http://www2.le.ac.uk/offices/ithelp/my-computer/print-copy-scan/students/pay

Budget Your budget is £50 Keep your receipts and submit your expenses to us. For active campaigning we charge £7.50 per electronic device e.g. smart phone/iPad/tablet/laptop used. Any questions, just ask!

Campaigning

Positive Campaigning Negative campaigning doesn’t work, only harms you Focus on yourself, not others Don’t be afraid to promote yourself Treat others how you would like to be treated.

Good places to campaign Don’t just campaign in the Square: Use all of campus (except inside the Library/dining halls) including off campus locations such as Brookfield Always ask permission before lecture shout-outs (if you do them)

Good luck and enjoy it!
