Degree staff expenses There has been some confusion about ceremonial staff expenses. To clarify: Admission (first degree) staff will normally be provided by the host district or council, but if a guest staff is requested, their expenses are the responsibility of the host district or council. Formation (second degree) staff will be assigned by me, but their expenses are the responsibility of the host district or council (but see Breaking News note above). Please have a check ready for them on the day of the degree. Knighthood (third degree) staff will be assigned by me, and their expenses will be covered by Supreme, but the host district or council is responsible for purchasing sufficient medallions prior to the degree, and making them available to the Conferring Officer. Reporting a Single or Major Degree Many thanks to all who participated in degrees in the 2018/2019 fraternal year. According to Form-450s reported to me, we have recruited only about half of the new Knights reported to Supreme on Form-100s ... indicating that only about 50% of first degrees are being reported! Please send a Form-450 to the State Deputy for EVERY first degree you hold ... it's easy to do online! Click here to download a Form 450. Last year we held 49 "major" degrees for a total of 718 second/third degree candidates. Well done those who made an effort to "promote" their candidates to the higher degrees of the order, and an additional congratulations if you accompanied your candidates and observed the "new" third degree!! Admission (1st) Degrees Contact your District Deputy or Regional Membership Chairman for information. If you wish to have your upcoming first degree posted here, please details to me. 20 Brothers: The following are the details of the Admission, Formation and Knighthood degrees to be held at <city> on <date> Team captains and CO please confirm receipt. Worthy DD <name>, PLEASE READ the following requirements: a. Please have pre-numbered name tags for the candidates, and just assign them, starting at #1, as they register. Have the candidates write their first name on the Tag in large legible block capitals. b. Please have a projection screen available if possible, and if not please inform the CO in advance. c. Please ensure that you order sufficient Medallions for your candidates and provide them to the CO in advance of the Knighthood degree. Only the GK or FS can purchase them directly through Supreme supply department: English Medallions - Item 30630 d. If you are to perform the Host DD function at the start and conclusion of the Third degree, please get familiar with the script (attached) and write in the name of the CO and other information before the degree. If you do not feel comfortable doing this, inform the CO and we will take care of it. e. Please provide 2 Warden's Aides and one inside guard, who should be familiar with the small spoken part (attached). f. Please confirm with the captains and CO a couple of days before the degree, with expected candidate counts if possible. g. If you intend to help with Knighting, please have your sword with you. h. Please have a check ready to pay the Formation degree staff expenses, which will be based on travel if you have less than 7. i. There will be NO charge for the Knighthood degree staff and CO, their expenses will be paid by Supreme. j. If you are planning an Admission degree, please confirm the first degree team. k. We need an antechamber as and should now contain chairs, etc. so that the candidates can be comfortable l. Please have appropriate signs at the entrance to hall or church facilities, to direct candidates and staff. m. Finally ... PLEASE submit a form 450 to state detailing EACH of the degrees. Don't attempt to put all the info on a single form. One addition to these notes, is that we can speed up the process of holding all three degrees, if you have two "Chambers" available in addition to the Antechamber. This allows for setup of the "next" degree in the other room while one degree is going on. Admission degree: <staff> or Not scheduled. 2nd Degree Staff (Formation) New Ulm Area Staff Captain Lonnie Spaeth (507) 3rd Degree (Knighthood) Southwest Region Staff CO Rick Morgan (701) Vivat Jesus! Regards, Don Trudeau CD
